Ukraine - History, Culture and Society
About the tour

Wedged between mighty and volatile neighbours, Ukraine's position at the centre of Europe has determined its long and tumultuous history. Independent from Russia, its most significant neighbour, since 1991, Ukraine's national identity and self determination is growing as never before, especially after the watershed bloodless Orange Revolution at the end of 2004. It is a fascinating time to visit this vibrant and newly optimistic country. This tour examines the rich and turbulent history of the land, as well as looking at its flourishing contemporary society and culture, and its spectacular landscapes and architecture. Tour leader Alex Attewell is an expert on social history and one of the world's leading authorities on Florence Nightingale, and her contribution in the Crimean conflict.

This tour is led by Alex Attewell. More about Alex.
