Enjoy a beautiful beach front resort at either end of your tour; see traditional performances including dance and martial arts; take a cruise along the lush Keralan backwaters on a luxurious converted rice barge; explore elegant Ooty and take tea at the Lalitha Mahal Palace in lovely Mysore.

About the tour
Following on from the successful tour led by Liz Carrington in 2008 we are once again drawing on Liz's wealth of personal contacts in India (where she once lived and worked) to repeat this tour. From the Shore Temple at Mahabalipuram to the Chinese fishing nets at Cochin, travel through the southern states of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and see how communities are overcoming prejudice surrounding disability in India. Professional visits range from the Vidya Sagar (formerly the Spastics Society), Mobility India and large public hospitals, to Ayurvedic hospitals and pharmacies and rural community projects. Along the way, enjoy a full cultural programme that includes the Shore Temple at Mahabilapuram, Mysore (the City of Palaces), the colonial hill station of Ooty, the Mudamadali Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, and multi-faceted Cochin. See breathtaking performances of traditional Keralan art forms, the martial art of Kalaripayatt and the traditional Keralan dance, Kathakali.
