You will also enjoy Su's personal contacts and friendships in the area, as she lives and works in Bulgaria and can give you unique access to and understanding of this fast disappearing way of life.

About the tour
Most of the rose oil produced in the world comes from the Valley of the Roses in Bulgaria, an area famed for its exquisite Damascene rose. On this unique study tour you will stay in a village house in the valley of the Roses and take part in the Rose Harvest. Your tour leader is Su Hagan, a past President of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists, a practising aromatherapist and a resident of Bulgaria. Su’s local contacts and knowledge will ensure that this will be a memorable and rewarding tour. There are a number of CPD lectures as part of the tour.
Beautiful Bulgaria has a traditional rural heart containing medieval cities and exquisitely preserved towns. Bulgaria is a window onto a traditional rural Europe that has all but vanished. It has recently been discovered by British and other visitors, who are drawn to its peaceful, slow way of life amidst spectacular and still unspoilt landscapes, its culture, music and history, and of course its wonderful food and excellent wine.
Stay in the Cucovata House in Kalofer Village; take part in the Rose Festival and Rose Harvest; learn of the rose distillation process; visit the beautiful medieval city of Veliko Tarnovo with its romantic castle and monastery; take part in an eco-trek with a botanist guide; visit the Thracian Tombs and explore traditional village life.
