Hear paediatrician Dr Alieda Guevara, daughter of Che Guevara, give a talk on the background to health care in Cuba. Talk to local doctors about the challenges they face in their day-to-day practice. Take a walking tour to look at Havana’s restoration project led by a city historian and award winning architect. Drive to Cienfuegos, cross Treasure Lake by speedboat through mangrove swamps, take a scenic train journey to historic Santa Clara and then on to Trinidad where you can wander through the cobbled streets and admire the baroque churches. In Pinar del Rio you can swim in waterfall-fed pools, take a canopy tour or boat trip, and visit the orchid garden.

About the tour
Cuba claims to have a world class health care system despite its limited resources. On this bespoke study tour led by Corinne Short, Editor of The Practitioner, you will meet local GPs and specialists and visit a polyclinic and medical school in addition to the Findlay Museum of Medical Science and the Taquechel Pharmacy. Visit the cigar factory, farms, villages, and examine the restoration of Havana. Enjoy live music, glorious colonial architecture, beautiful landscapes, stunning beaches and the vivaciousness of Cuba.
