This tour, which is supported by the RCOG, examines the developments in obstetrics, gynaecology and fertility in China. China is facing new challenges to its medical and healthcare infrastructure as a result of its economic development and a rapidly changing society. This tour will look at obstetrics, fertility and gynaecology in China within the social context of changes in the one child policy and an ageing population, where reduced family and social support are leading to new challenges.
The tour will look at both the big cities and rural areas and examines how Western therapies are incorporated with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM, diet, exercise, environment and Western medical techniques all play a significant role.
A superb cultural programme takes you well off the beaten track to offer an insider’s view of China. Visit the great sites of the Great Wall, the Forbidden Palace and the Terracotta Warriors, as well as more unusual visits. There are walking tours in old Shanghai and the historic hutongs of Beijing, as well as visits to the Shanghai Museum, classic gardens, a lake cruise in Hangzhou and a night market in Xian.
The tour is designed to give participants a fascinating insight into China by looking at its society, its history and its approach to medicine, as well as its contemporary culture. Partners are very welcome.
